For those born between the first and second world wars, the stiff upper lip, doing your duty and keeping your feelings to yourself were virtues which seem to have changed (since the sixties) with successive generations.

Do older people retain ways of coping with emotion developed early in their lives, or does their emotional style change to reflect society around them?  Is there something intrinsic about aging that changes the way in which emotional processing occurs?  Are there less opportunities for emotional expression as age increases?
